Week 6 Dev Log: June 19th - June 25th
What we have done so far:
The farm level has been populated with temporary assets and greyboxed for the upcoming individual playtests. The playtesting script and google forms has been made as well, and the sheep wandering AI has been completed as pt1 to the main objective. Subtitles and newscaster dialogue were written for the objectives and how players can trigger them through gameplay. The hammer throw was also worked on, which is a new mechanic that mimics the hammer throw sport to allow players to toss objects further. Some issues with the objective system was worked out as well.
What our next steps are:
- conduct individual playtests over the weekend
- integrate pt2 of the main objective of watering crops
- make pause menu UI and additional assets
- make camera higher/further away from the player to see more of the level
Important discoveries along the way:
- its hard to see where the player is heading with the current camera set up
- slingshot mechanic may be underutilized/players don't feel the need for it
