Week 7 Dev Log: June 26th - July 2nd
What we have done so far:
This week we focused on making the game ready for alpha. From feedback, we discovered that players are initially very confused with what to do since there is no tutorial or guidance until they exit the starting room. They also encountered a number of collision bugs, and missing their objective since it's so small on the screen. The roof was removed on the starting screen because it was blocking the camera view. The breaking news bar was altered to display at the appropriate time. New player animations were made as well, alongside a controller schematic.
What our next steps are:
- making the sheep throwable
- fixing collision bugs with the player and sheep/ground
- allow vertical movement with the camera
- create sheep animations
Important discoveries along the way:
- Without vertical movement on the camera, players had to fly up to assess their location which isn't ideal
- The UI was white text with no background to differentiate it from the game, which made it easy to miss
