Week 1 Dev Log: May 18th - May 25th
What we have done so far:
As a team we were able to get our first prototype of our game playable. As the player, you control a gust of wind that flows around the level. You can get stronger via interacting with other wind sources, which increase your size. As your size increases, larger objects will be pulled into your wind vortex.
What our next steps are:
As development continues we will be working towards integrating these mechanics:
- The opportunity to have your movement influenced and be pushed around by air flow sources. (ex. Fans, other strong gusts of wind, etc).
- As time increases, the player's size will gradually decrease, as long as they aren’t interacting with any sources of air flow.
Important discoveries along the way:
- How do we create a control scheme that represents the flow of wind and immerses the player?
- As the player's gust of wind grows, the camera will need to add space between itself and the player.
- Potential performance issues with the destruction of objects on a large scale.
